The site is located in Peloponnese, in a mountainous settlement which was until very recently deserted. The interior and exterior space is organized in different levels which follow the natural ground inclination. The transition between the different rooms, a typical characteristic of the interior organization of the local residences is organised through a succession of ascending spaces.
The Vertical Home is built in a neighborhood which used to have low-rise buildings in small lots. The Vertical Home is in fact a vertical set of three two-story apartments. Each one has unique design elements to accommodate the needs of its future residents. However, they all share an interior garden. This creates a relaxing area for the residents to escape the surrounding urban neighborhood of Piraeus which is densely built with high-rise buildings and rather noisy narrow streets. It provides privacy and integrates the apartments’ outdoor space in the building volume.
Pocket House occupies an area of 54 m2. It is locates at Skoutaros, a village at the island of Lesvos in Greece. It is designed so as to exploit the view towards the sea and Petra village, both from the inside, as well as from the outdoor areas. It acquires a rather narrow imprint, which places the living room and the bedroom at the view and leaves the kitchen, the stairs and restroom at the rear part of the house.
Skiathos Bnb is a 206 m2 facility located at Skiathos, one of the most visited islands of Greece. The existing residence is converted to the Bed and Breakfast apartments while the addition of the new construction offers a very much needed extra space. The project’s goal is to draw a distinctive line between the existing and the new construction and at the same time create a smooth transition from the old to the new.
